Kentaur
Production designer, costumes, make-up & wigs

He studied painting at the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts. Since the end of 1980-ies his paintings regularly appear at personal and group exhibitions. Kentaur was a solo singer and the author of songs of a “new wave” musical group, later he recorded several rock albums.

Kentaur started his theatre career as a graphic designer, and then became the production designer and the costume designer. Since 1990 he worked at all main Hungarian drama theatres and was the first art director in Hungary who used interactive, live video-techniques on the stage. His international career started in 1995 when producer Cameron Mackintosh offered Kentaur to redesign his musical productions: “Miss Saigon”, “The Phantom of the opera”, “Oliver!” and “Martin Gerr”. In 2002 at London West-End Kentaur debuted with production “Rent”. He became the first-ever production designer entrusted to make new stage design of “The Phantom of the opera” (2003) and “Beautiful Game” (2005) for their staging in Budapest. Since 2006, being the production designer and the costume designer of  “Tanz der Vampire” in Budapest, Vienna, Antwerp and Saint-Petersburg, he created new vivid design for this cult musical. In 2007 the State of Hungary awarded him the Jászai Award for his contribution in theatre art.
